Portraits
‘Cézanne Portraits’ was a major international exhibition that brought together, for the first time, over fifty of Cézanne’s portraits from collections across the world, featuring works that hadn’t been on public display in the UK previously. During this exhibition I was asked to design a marketing take-over of the National Portrait Gallery’s external signage and produce designs for banners, retail window banners, external signage, invitations, leaflets and posters to promote the exhibition. Working with the Marketing team, we selected key images and produced designs to incorporate the exhibition lock-up and the logos of supporters and collaborating galleries. This involved creating an overall cohesive design that would work across multiple formats from the very large to the very small. For the campaign we chose to use a bright red, featured in two of the key images, because it was bold and would stand out against the dreary winter months during which the exhibition was held.
